President Kenneth Kaunda - First President of the Republic of Zambia - R.I.P 17 June 2021
Sincere condolences from DG Annemarie and D9400, to his family and the people of Zambia.
We were so honoured to recently recognise His Excellency when he addressed us at the
Rotary Africa Centennial Celebrations.

RIDN Patrick Chisanga, DG Lucie Kasanga and PDG Ravi Devalia at First President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda's home, State Lodge last month.

RIDN Patrick, on behalf of Zone 22 and District 9210, presented the "Centennial African Peace Builders Award" Certificate and the Crystal to Dr. Kaunda.

This award was announced at the 100 years of Rotary in Africa celebrations at Johannesburg, District 9400 last month.

Dr. Kaunda, being a Rotarian himself, was visibly moved by this gesture.

Zambia's first president Kenneth Kaunda was commander-in-chief of the armed forces for close to three decades.
In his retirement years, he marshalled the country in a war against HIV/AIDS, and always proudly displayed the AIDS awareness badge, as seen in this picture with DG Annemarie Mostert in 2006.
